Grace Alone – Salvation Is a Gift We Cannot Earn

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”— Ephesians

2:8–9 The message of the gospel is centered on grace — God's unearned favor and kindness toward us. We are not saved because of anything we've done, but because of everything Christ has done for us. Salvation is not a reward for good behavior; it is a gift given to undeserving people. This truth humbles us. We can't boast in our own goodness or effort, because our righteousness falls short. But it also sets us free. We don't have to strive to earn God's approval or live in fear of not being "good enough." In Christ, we are accepted, forgiven, and loved — not because we earned it, but because grace made it possible. Grace changes how we live. It produces gratitude, not pride; obedience, not obligation. When we truly grasp the gift of grace, our hearts respond not with trying to repay God, but with worship, surrender, and love.
